Praxis - About the Class

Erin’s class begins with a thorough conditioning warm-up that builds strength, stamina, alignment and awareness through movement. Short sequences draw on hybrid influences from contemporary, somatic and martial arts influences. These repeatable patterns work full range of motion in the limbs and spine, balance, stabilization and the ability to flow through different spatial planes. Improvisation games and scores exploring a variety of physical states and dynamics are also interspersed to help dancers warm up creatively, collectively and compositionally.  The class closes with a period of integration and reflection involving a somatic cooldown, journaling and/or group discussion. The goal is to open the mindbody connection and create space for expression and enaction.
